Natural Homemade Immunity-Boosting Tea

homemade immunity tea

When you’re feeling the sniffles, ultra-tired, or a sore throat arriving, the good news is there’s a natural remedy to curb the illnesses and keep them at bay! Using some of my favorite ingredients that support immunity, I concocted an ultra-healthy, homemade, all-natural boosting tea that is precisely what the body needs when there’s a cold going around the office.

Each element in my immunity tea adds a layer of defense; starting with ginger, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and is a host for a myriad of wonderful health benefits.

Turmeric, a highly orange pigmented spice commonly used in curry, is also an anti-inflammatory that serves as a powerful antioxidant.

Cinnamon can lower blood sugar, packs on the antioxidants, and is great at fighting diseases as well as infections with its anti-microbial, anti-biotic, and anti-fungal characteristics.

Finally, apple cider vinegar lately is touted as a “weight loss” tool, but don’t swallow it pure in large amounts unless diluted, as it can burn your esophagus. When used in moderation, apple cider vinegar helps kill bacteria, fight fungi, contains probiotics, and supports other long-term health goals surrounding blood pressure and weight loss.

Alas, what type of immunity tea would this be without a rich source of Vitamin C? Cue the lemon, which is is also great for your skin and digestion.

I added stevia (plant-based and no calories) or honey for anyone who needs a sweet kick in their tea, which is a completely optional additive based on preference.

What you’ll need:

  • Turmeric
  • Fresh Ginger
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (unfiltered)
  • Cinnamon
  • Stevia (or honey)
  • Lemon

First, chop up the ginger into slices. I like to use about a  2-3 inch chunk of ginger, place it in a pot of water with maybe six cups worth (some will evaporate as it boils), and turn on the stove with medium heat, so flavor can seep into the water. Let this boil for some time so the ginger can really infuse with the hot water, maybe about ten to fifteen minutes. Turn off the stove and let cool off.

Once the tea is at a temperature that won’t scorch your tongue (speaking from personal experience), pour in one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, mix. Pour in a teaspoon of turmeric, a dash of cinnamon, and if you want some plant-based sweetness, a half or full packet of stevia, mix again. Honey is an alternative too! Take a ripe lemon, cut up and squeeze a quarter of the lemon into the tea. Stir everything together thoroughly, and enjoy! Hopefully, you’ll feel better with this anti-inflammatory, immunity booster packed with powerful properties.
